New Life To An Old Nightstand

One passion of mine that is coming back is thrifting and up cycling pieces to use in our home.  It feels good to have that passion back again.  Looking forward to more of it in 2016!

I purchased this piece last spring with an idea to one day redo it.  It had good solid bones… but well it needed something :)

Yesterday I decided to tackle it.  I gave it a couple of coats of chalk paint, distressed it and then waxed it.  I love the new look and love how a bit of distressing just gives it a lived in, homey feel.

Now, my head is spinning with the many ideas I have for those other pieces that have been collecting dust that I have just waiting for the right project and idea!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I love Christmas.  I love Santa and what he portrays.  I have been collecting my Christmas items slowly, year by year, adding a piece or two.  Today I am going to share some of my favourite pieces… I don't have everything out since we have a 15 month old grand daughter who gets into everything.

A new piece this year is the sweater pillow… I took a thrift store sweater and pillow form and created it.  Cost less than $10 and I got some leg warmers too :)  The Santa pillow I found last year.

More new things… the vintage santa mugs.  Love them!  Great addition to my tea bar.

Next up some of my favourite hand made items.  I created this with my oldest daughter when she was 2.  She now has a baby of her own :)

I always crafted with my kids and snowmen were easy for them to paint so we have a lot of snowman items that they created over the years.

I also like to paint and I painted some of the items as well.

My favourite of my painted pieces… love this chair.

I have 2 of these little guys, both of which have seen better days :)  About 15 years old… I treasure them.

Scraps of wood are never safe, I created the joy piece from just that.

I created the believe sign from a scrap of wood.  That 'typewriter' a find last year.

This little guy was my husband's grandmother's.  Makes me think of her when I see it.

Have a Merry Christmas!

Planner Addict... Yep!

Please tell me I'm not the only one...

I am a planner addict and there is just something about starting a new one... simple pleasures I guess but I love beginning a new year, new planner - fresh and clean, ready to be scribbled on and put to use.  I also have a very hard time getting rid of the past years planner... it is another document of 'a day in the life' or in this case 'a year in the life'.  What about you?  What do you do with old planners?

This year I am going to have fun with it...it is going to be another venue for my crafting and I can't wait :)  I have started this one with some SRM Stickers...

...now to come up with some resolutions :)

Mani in a Tube stocking stuffer

I love gift giving.   How about you?  I feel it is not the price but the thought.

I wanted to give my Student Teacher a little something as she is doing such a great job.  Well what young girl wouldn't love to have some pretty nails over the holidays?

I packaged up some Jamberry wraps in a plastic tube (on sale right now from SRM Stickers), along with a file, orange stick and a wipe.

Everything she needs for a quick and easy salon style manicure.  I was a student once, there is not usually extra money for little things for yourself so I hope that she likes it.

Products Used:
Pattern Paper: Cozy Christmas by My Mind's Eye
Tube and Sticker: SRM Stickers
Die: Papertrey Ink
Twine: Divine Twine

Do you still need a stocking stuffer?

Jamberry makes a great gift!

Order by December 15th to ensure Christmas Deliver!
