Key Pieces for your fall wardrobe

Fall is just around the corner.  The weather here is still very warm and I for one, am looking forward to fall.  I am quite tired of watering my garden... thinking now it is best to just go for survival of the fittest ;)

I love fall.  Now if I have to get out of my pajamas...I love fall clothes - the boots, scarves, sweaters, hoodies... I love fall food - squash, pumpkin, pumpkin pie tea... I could go on.  Let's just say I will be embracing fall when it arrives!

I came across this checklist (click on photo to be taken to source) and thought... oh good, I'm well on my way... except I don't see leggings there... I do love my leggings!

The next thing on my list is to learn how to tie a blanket scarf - mine just never look quite right!

Of course don't forget to complete your outfit by decking out your nails!

What about you?  Are you ready for fall?  What is your favorite go to fall wardrobe piece?

Moments in Time

And sometimes you do know....

We celebrated my grand daughters 2nd birthday yesterday.  A gorgeous day with lots of fun had by all.  I did get several pictures of my cutie pie... but this one is my favorite.

You see, my dad 'surprised' us with an unexpected heart attack back in July.  It was scary and we are lucky he is still with us.  A couple weeks later he had a triple bypass and a valve replacement.  He is still mending but making steady progress!  It is amazing what can be done medically and we are so thankful for it!

I love the joy in this photo.  My grand daughter who loves the new teddy she just received and my dad (her great grandpa) just because that little peanut is sitting on his lap >3  She has no idea how special this moment is, he does.... but one day she will.

Delicious Matcha Chai Spiced Latte!

I am NOT kidding you when I say that this is delicious and since it is made with Matcha it is very good for you!

I know I have posted about it a few times.. Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal, Pumpkin Matcha Smoothie, Matcha Monday and Lemon Matcha Zucchini Flaxseed Muffins.  So if you have followed my blog at all, you know that the reason I include Matcha daily is because it:
  • is loaded with antioxidants: in fact it contains about 3 times more antioxidants than those found in other  high quality green teas;
  • it may help improve cholesterol and blood sugar levels;
  • it may help reduce the risk of heart disease;
  • matcha boosts energy and metabolism; (the increased energy was a side effect I was pleasantly surprised by!)
  • it increases focus, and (yes it idoes!)
  • can help improve skin health
Anyways, as I said, this is delicious!  I can see this being a regular treat of mine.

Ingredients:
1 cup non dairy milk (I used Vanilla Almond)
1 tsp Matcha (I used Steeped Tea Vanilla Matcha)
1 tsp pure maple syrup
1 TBSP coconut oil
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla

Put all ingredients into a small pot and whisk together while slowly heating to desired temperature.  Pour into a mug and top with frothed milk (this is not necessary but adds to the 'treatness' of it ;)) and some decorative sugar (I used Steeped Tea Vanilla Maple Cinnamon sugar).  Enjoy

Oh and if you are a coffee drinker... you can omit the froth milk... just keep this in the fridge as a yummy creamer for your coffee!

Super easy way to grow long nails when they are prone to splitting and breaking.

One of the Elle Canada editors Victoria DiPlacido is like many others, she
has nails that don't grow well... they splinter and break.  Does this sound familiar to you?  There is an easy solution... read on to find out how!

My go to remedy that has done wonders for the health of my cuticles and nails has been applying cuticle oil everyday... my nails have NEVER been healthier (see earlier post with tips to help with nail growth).  I can't recommend this enough. I also apply the Jamberry Nail Strengthener before my wraps or lacquers for an added coat of protection! Keep reading though to find out what has worked for Victoria DiPlacido.

As Victoria stated in the September issue of Elle Canada magazine she has trouble remembering to use something like a nail strengthener but has found something that works for her....

Gel Manicures!

That's right, getting regular gel manicures is her secret, "The gel acts as training wheels for my nails, reminding them the way to grow is up, not across or down.  After two recent back-to-back gel manicures (about 2 weeks apart), my nails are the longest they've been in years."

Amazing right?!
Well you can save yourself money and do it yourself quickly and EASILY!

How?

"Get professional, salon-quality gel polish nails at home with TruShine Gel Enamel! Our soak-off formula goes on easy and gives you a high-shine finish without fading or chipping. The TruShine Gel Enamel System has everything you need to get a flawless gel manicure that lasts up to two weeks."

Check out what some happy TruShine customers have to say:

Style endures...

I used to be an avid crafter but the mojo has been missing for a long time.  Happily, it is slowly coming back.  I mixed a number of different items to create this fun card.

I'm wondering... if someone were to describe you what would they say?  What are three words that they would come up with.  I posted this question a couple years back on my Facebook and one thing that came up a lot was 'creative'.... so... I'm working my way back on that :)

Products used:
Paper: Crate Paper
Dies: Paper Smooches, Simon Says, Concord & 9th
Stamp: The Ton
For more information on the card, check out my crafting blog:  Seabrook Designs

What is your style?
